Booking Also A/B Tests Icon Labels Replicating Google's Recent Experiment

Leak #17 from Booking.com   |   Jul 30, 2019 Home & Landing

It seems like Booking just completed running an experiment that is very similar to a recent one from Google. The experiment evaluated icons with labels in the top navigation against a control version with labels only. Whether they copied each other intentionally or not doesn't really matter. Actually, if they were inspired by each other's changes then that's a great thing. What I do want to bring your attention to is that this experiment replicated. That is, both experiment results from Booking and Google now have similar outcomes making navigation with icons and labels even stronger.

Highlighted UI Changes From This Leak

  1. Labels With Icons

In this experiment, the variation showed navigation links with icons. A few days later we detected that this experiment completed and the variation was implemented. :)

0.5 Repeatability has been assigned to Pattern #2: Icon Labels as evidence that it's getting better

Repeatability is a net count of evidence for or against a pattern. It’s how we can predict which patterns are better than others. :)
